Lower Sixth ICT - Work for Mr. Jones 5/12/05

You are working on an e-book which includes the Information Age. This is your look at how ICT is affecting many aspects of society. One fairly recent development in the world of ICT is that of Blogging. Although blogs have been around for quite a long time, their use has rapidly increased in the last few years with the advent of faster internet connections and easy to use blogging websites such as http://www.blogger.com/.

For a good introduction to blogging look at this video from the Teacher's TV channel. It is entitled 'The Blogosphere' and defines some blogging terms and concepts. You could include this video in your e-book in the section on communicating with ICT, explaining what blogging is all about.

View the html code of my message and look for the section with the object tags Copy this section into your e-book and this video can be used as one of the multimedia elements in it.

Upper Sixth - Mr. Jones 02/12/05

Don't forget that there is a Parents' Evening in the Sixth Form on Monday 5 December 2005.

By then you should have given me a one A4 page summary about your website. This should include the following details:
  • Name of website
  • Purpose and type of website including your potential client
  • Description of website's main features
  • List of 'advanced features' to be used
  • Log of what has been implemented so far
  • List of what do you still need to do

The deadline for the implementation of the website is Friday 16 December 2005. The online version must be ready by then and you will be given details about where to store it next week. This may be on the school network or live on the internet.

During and after Christmas you must complete the documentation as specified in the syllabus sheets you were given at the start of the Unit. You also need to get feedback (on your visitor's book blogs) from the other class members about the content, style, navigation facilities and advanced features used in your website.

Read the syllabus again for more information.
